How long have you been in your industry?32
Why did you choose your industry? Our main focus is Pharmaceutical Manufacturing. We grew out of Industrial Automation in Pharma Manufacturing. This industry is not for the faint of heart since it not only involved manufacturing technology and automation but how to make cutting edge technology work within the FDA's regulatory framework. This is a niche area with bountiful rewards. Hard to succeed but once you get going you become very valuable.
Who are your typical clients?Fortune 50 Life Science Enterprises as well as SMB Biotech/Medtech firms
What do you like best about being in this industry? My goal always has been to bring cutting edge technology available in general industry to GxP (which is Pharma/Biotech/Medtech). This approach has many challenges unrelated to technology. It is adopting to make it work under the regime of GxP QA and Regulatory Frameworks. I like to shake trees and make it work when others give up.
What are common problems you see?- Adopting cutting edge technology to manufacture drugs; everyone always blames the FDA (just an excuse)
What advice/tips do you have for clients?- Never use regulatory regime instituted by the Health Authorities as a default excuse to stay behind the tech curve.- Interpret regulations using logical reasoning not just take it literally.
When is your busy season?Every single day
What keeps you up at night?Nothing since I have managed to live with uncertainty with poise and maturity
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?Currently being an influencer on LinkedIn, YouTube, Beehiiv, Spotify. Organizing conferences with practical approaches and bring clients, vendors and partners into such conversations.
How involved are you in the community?- I started the Philadelphia chapters of AIM for Seva and SEWA international. Organized big fund raising events and shows. For example, raised over 150K for Nepal's earthquake victims in 2015- Established a Not for Profit in 2002 with my wife to provide support to many causes globally. We have consistently sponsored programs every single year since 2002
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?AIM for Seva
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?- Never work for anyone but yourself (of course if you have the right mental attitudes and be open to challenges all the time)
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?I have transitioned into an Organic Farmer determined to grow my own food. I purchased a 15 acre farm in Saint Augustine. This is my new home.
